Peasant note #17 | The meetings | Viera & Yves

Ah winter...

A period that I don't really like, except for a few descents on the slopes of the Pyrenees when I still could. Its month of January, interminable, in short, great atmosphere!

These tickets are alive, we are stuck for a few weeks so I take the opportunity to think. About who, about what? About people...

Those who matter, those who help you, who believe in you, who sometimes we only pass by but who leave you with an indelible memory, those who become your friends, your sweethearts, your encounters...

So I'm going to tell you about my encounters and the field. Not all at once, but at least you're warned!

Let’s start with some winemaking friends, Domaine de la Barthe.

August 2021, half-confined (for those who are reading us in 100 years), on the Thursday in Béziers before the Feria. Objective of the evening and every Thursday of the summer: discover and taste wines from Béziers!

But at that time, I was far from thinking about making so many bottles when I started talking with this emblematic couple: Viera the eternal youth, Yves the joker and lover of classical music.

There are things like that that you don't forget.
They were the ones who gave me my first winemaking lessons and my first yeasts when September (2021) arrived and I did some tests.

2 and a half years later, we help each other, we cross paths, here and there, at the end of an appointment with the winemaker, always between two hassles that we tell each other about. We are always in a hurry but we talk for an hour pretending to leave each other.. “Come on, ciao! Hey, but I still haven’t made you taste my cinsault by the way?”

I highly recommend their Muscat (dry!) and the Symphony of the Five Senses in red.
